Frustrating Love Relationships Between Opposite Psychological Types

Carl Jung discovered the existence of different psychological types that predetermine our behavior and reactions. Each psychological type works, based on a main psychological function. Our psychological functions are based on:

*Thoughts
*Feelings
*Sensations
*Intuition
Therefore, each psychological type is based on one of these four psychological functions. This means that we’ll tend to do everything in our lives based only on the psychological function within our psyche, which is more developed then the others, while disregarding the other psychological functions that we are not using.
The unconscious mind that produces our dreams gives us many lessons in dream messages. It tries to help us develop all the components of our personality. The psychological functions that we are not using belong to the anti-conscience, the wild side of our conscience. If we have the dominant psychological type based on feelings for example, this means that our thoughts, sensations, and intuition will have immature and violent characteristics.
There is always a half-developed second psychological function in our psyche, which is not as well developed as the primary psychological function that determines our behavior. However, it won’t be a psychological function totally opposite from our main one. For example, the second half-developed psychological function of a psychological type based on feelings couldn’t be based on thoughts, because thoughts and feelings are totally opposite.
People who belong to psychological types based on feelings could have their sensations or their intuition half-developed in their psyche, in parallel with their fully developed feelings. This means that psychological types based on feelings are illogical, while psychological types based on thoughts are insensitive. The same happens with psychological types based on sensations or intuition, which are opposite.
People who belong to an extroverted psychological type based on sensations will care only about material pleasures, while completely ignoring their intuition when assessing the world around them. People who belong to an introverted psychological type based on intuition will be strange and incomprehensible. They disregard the material reality, pursuing their impressions.
Besides the predominance of a certain psychological function, we all have an introverted or extroverted attitude in life. Introverted people care more about their own opinion, while extroverted people care more about the general opinion. Both attitudes are totally opposite, and cannot fit together.
Therefore, whenever you have a conflict with the person you love, try to understand to which psychological type he or she belongs, and first of all, to which psychological type you belong. This distinction will help you avoid love relationships with psychological types that are totally opposite to yours and thus prevent conflicts and frustrations.
Of course, you must develop all your psychological functions and have a balanced attitude, but your main psychological function characterizes your personality. If you have a love relationship with a psychological type based on a psychological function totally opposite from your main one, you won’t be happy with this person. The same happens if you are introverted and you have a love relationship with an extroverted psychological type, or vice-versa.
You may desire to insist on this relationship, believing that the differences between you make you complete one another, or that they are irrelevant. However, with time these constant frustrations in addition to the daily conflicts generated by your contradictory personalities, will annoy you very much.
